History
3000-1800 BCE
The Norte Chico civilisation is based in Peru, and is one of the oldest civilisations in the world.
1000-1476 CE
In the Piura region, researchers have uncovered ancient buildings and collections of seashells, also known
as "huacas" and "conchales" respectively. Exploring these sites have hinted towards previous inhabitation
for centuries.
1526-1811
The Spanish, lead by Francisco Pizarro, colonised Peru. Unfortunately, most of the ancient culture was
lost.
1811-1824
During the war of independence Peru gained independency on the 28th July, 1821.
1950-1970
Piedritas became a town that revolved around raising livestock such as pigs, goats, and chickens. The town
was located in a valley with ravines and a carob forest which provided natural shade and grazing for the
livestock.
2004
Sofia Mulanovich, a Peruvian, won the World Surfing Championship which sparked a renewed national interest
in surfing.
2008
The Association of Surfing Pros hosted an international surfing competition here in Lobitos.
